Reon
There are things that we long for as we all inevitably grow up—the feeling of being a child once more. This innocent joy and pureness that we keep searching for along with the simplicity of life back then. This feeling of nostalgia and pureness that Leyte-based pop duo Reon brings us with their latest release, "Back To The Times".
Listening to the song for the first time instantly transports you to the sweet bygone days of your youth. Reon's whole aesthetic is fitting for the story of this track. Reanne Borela and Noah Alejandre both present themselves as artists full of that child-like nature that many of us have lost growing up. "Back To The Times" is a breath of fresh air in this sea of negativity with its light-hearted lyrics about simpler times.
The production of the song complements the theme and story of the track perfectly. The instrumentals can only be described as a sort of time machine that takes you back. Noah Alejandre worked alongside award-winning producer Xerxes Bakker, who has worked with artists like Snoop Dogg and Imagine Dragons. The track originally started as a demo going back and forth between the two producers with Xerxes adding the finishing touches and ensuring "Back To The Times" reaches its full potential, just as Reon envisioned it to be.
Reon is relatively fresh in the Filipino music scene but their achievements in recent months are certainly very telling of this duo's talent and creative drive. The duo received the first place award for the Philpop 2020 song-writing competition for their song "Suyo", as well as making various radio and TV station appearances around the Philippines. Their YouTube channel has recently surpassed 4,000 subscribers while maintaining a solid 50,000 monthly listener count on their Spotify profile.
Reon is certainly making a mark in the industry, all while proudly putting Ormoc City on the map of the local music scene. Go take a listen to their latest release "Back To The Times" in anticipation of their upcoming EP, sentiments!
