Our yearning for love comes from the most profound underlying foundations of our being. We can encounter yearning for something we had and lost, or we can ache for something we never had in any case. We’ve all been disappointed and hurt by someone we counted on and the truth of the matter is that our loved ones – the individuals who matter most to us – can hurt us most.
After the success of her first album To the Moon and Back, Filipino singer and actress, Alexa Ilacad, best known for her pop-rock singing style, has released her new single "Stay Right Here". This new track is an emotional, lyrically upbeat tune about human vulnerability, passion, and a keen longing to be loved or give love.
Written by Alexa herself, with production by Relden Loris C. Campanilla & Raven Carlisle C. Tabanera of ROUTE 83, and her uncle, Ricky Del Rosario Ilacad. "Stay Right Here" is a poem about our vulnerability, our passion, and our sharp aching to be cherished or give love layered with a feisty combination between Alexa Ilacad's new age dance-pop defining vocals and masterful up-tempo sounds. Both the writing and the production emphasized the emotional element of her new single ‘"Stay Right Here". Its deep emotional lyrics mixed with the danceable beat makes it a song that moves you.
Juggling all the responsibilities of being a student, an actress, and an artist, her pets and her fans have been Alexa’s pride and joy. Her zing and musicality are vigorously influenced by Dua Lipa, Hayley Williams, Ariana Grande, Doja Cat, Sigrid, Billie Eilish, Amy Shark, Justin Bieber, NIKI, and Taylor Swift. Though inspired by these talented pop artists, Alexa is a star on her own right.
While known for her numerous jobs in both film and TV, Alexa Ilacad is no longer a stranger to the music scene. She took part in the music competition We Love OPM in 2016 and released her debut album To The Moon And Back that very year. In 2017 she got the Awit Award for People's Choice Favorite New Female Recording Artist and has since maintained her passion for singing live through covers and collaborations on her YouTube channel. She returned to singing, her first love, in 2020 under the label Off The Record.
Alexa Ilacad is a promising local artist to watch. With a collaborative project and an EP on the way, I hope to hear this untamed young pop-rock artist thunder some more!
