Sam Akins
We all go through different obstacles in life. We experience a wide range of emotions. We inevitably go through heartache whether it may be from a lover, our family, and even with our friends. Life can be difficult and imperfect, and these emotions suck especially when the person who brought them is dear to you. But when things get out of control and you know that this isn’t healthy anymore, strengthening our mind is perhaps the only way to reduce the difficulty of our suffering and, sometimes, we just have to get rid of people who could cause us more damage. If you can relate to this, then you would wanna hear the disco-funk era-infused pop vocals of “Peel” by Sam Akins.
At 10 years old Sam Akins started singing in the choir due to a shortage of soprano singers, and when he was 12 years old, he wrote his first song. It wasn't until later in his college years when his interest in songwriting grew. Heavily influenced by Gospel, Pop, R&B, Hip-Hop, and Musical theatre, Sam Akins made his debut in November 2020 with a Holiday Single titled “Alone For Christmas” released under Warner Music Philippines.
I have very high respect for artists like Sam Akins who not only make music to talk about their cool and fancy lives but bring hope to people who may be suffering. It’s a wake-up song, that sometimes we just have to peel ourselves off people who don’t value us anymore — that it’s okay to walk away to reclaim ourselves. Make sure to support "Peel" on all streaming platforms and stay tuned for more dope songs from Sam Akins.
