alea gabrielle

After the success of her previous track "Time Slows Down", Canada- based Philippine artist alea gabrielle, best known for her sultry and sensual singing style, is now releasing her next single "jealous". An emotional, lyrically raw tune about "being with someone who gets jealous about the littlest things when you clearly don’t have any intentions to make the person you’re seeing jealous".

alea gabrielle worked with talented producer Jameson Trenorio, whose work has always impressed the singer-songwriter. She wanted the song to have darker undertones to match the nature of the story, which she feels Trenorio was able to encapsulate perfectly in the final version of the song. After listening to the song, I felt what she meant by this. The production emphasized the emotional elements of her vocal melodies and lyrics, making it a song that makes you want to put your headphones on blast and sing along.

According to alea gabrielle she had her first true taste of the music scene in the Philippines when she collaborated with Carlisle Tabanera of the rising band Route83. She then took a two-year hiatus, returning in June of 2020 and since then has been in full force, working on new singles, refueling her passion for music to keep going. She mentions how "it's a lot of hard work but at the same time, the pay off is worth every bit of struggle or hardship".

With the success of her return single "Time Slows Down" hitting 100k streams on Spotify in its first month, working with Warner distribution, and being a feature in online concerts, alea gabrielle is already making strides in the Philippine music community. She states her music has been inspired by legendary artists like Amy Winehouse and Billie Holiday, as well as more emotional folk music from bands like Bon Iver. These influences help her to create her unique sound that she continues to develop today.

Her sound has been compared to popular artists like Billie Eilish, Sabrina Claudio, and Ruth B., alea gabrielle is sure to capture the attention of listeners who feel drawn to the same emotional sound as these artists. When asked what she believed was a good message to fellow artists, she stressed the importance of being genuine and true to yourself.

"If you put things out that mean something to you, listeners will immediately catch that and that will gravitate them to you and your art more. And be authentic. Don't get carried away by what’s working nowadays and what’s not. As long as what you're making is what you one hundred percent stand by, that’s good enough. You know your art more than anyone and you know what’s best for it. Stick to that."alea gabrielle on the importance of authenticity in making music.

I found it particularly promising to hear how important this element in music was to her in an age where so many people attempt to make pop music purely by following "a structure" that works. Authenticity and honesty, now more than ever, is what needs to be heard in music, and this can truly be heard in alea gabrielle's upcoming single 'jealous'. You can feel her rawness. I believe so many people will be able to connect to this emotion.

Above all, she's excited for her journey with music that's just waiting to be explored. She looks forward to collaborating with other artists and even writing for others. When the pandemic eases, the idea of performing would be exciting for her and being in front of a crowd. With this current single, I'm sure a lot of intrigued listeners will be looking forward to it in the future.
