SESSIONS Worldwide

I don't usually work on Sundays, but today was a special one. It was a day that I looked forward to, knowing that I will be finalizing the program for the music lineup we have been preparing for almost 3 months. This month, we are celebrating the 4th year of Beat This Philippines, a concept I started in 2017 as a radio show that evolved into diligently documenting and featuring music made by Filipinos not just from the motherland but also from around the globe.

I remember like it was yesterday, I had this cool idea to make a 3-hour radio program on terrestrial radio in Cebu that was focused on the new modern music production sound of the Philippines. It was going to feature beatmakers, laptop musicians, bedroom producers, sound designers, and the artists that are on it. Beat This ON AIR promoted genres including Hip-Hop, R&B, EDM, Electro, Indie, and even Pop. I know there was a term on Top 40 stations calling it “Rhythmic Contemporary” or “Rhythmic Crossover”, but collectively, I called these music content makers "compusicians" as they were all dabbling in computer-oriented output using different DAW with electronic sound.

Since then, I've been swimming in a sea of talented Filipino-made music, and each fateful discovery is why it will always have room to be part of the bigger picture in promoting what I now call GLOPM or Global Pinoy Music. It was through this show that I got to know more and more about what is out there, it became the mission of Beat This Philippines to establish a platform for us to be represented globally.

The question lies, are you ready for the Filipino Global Movement?

I do believe that it starts now, and we at Beat This Philippines are not the only ones who feel this way. Everyone in this space is contributing to build and expand it. So now that we have been continuously doing this, we hope you will support the talented Filipino artists and creatives from around the world as we showcase them in celebration of our 4th anniversary. For 30 days, we will have 30 artists spread out to give you an exclusive performance we know you will love.
