In light of the celebrations, this week on The Chosen Dozen, we will be featuring some dope Filipino-American artists that we have covered on the show! We will be giving you a breakdown of the episode in just a bit, but first, what’s Filipino History Month all about? Well here’s a little history lesson for you!

All the way back on October the 18th of 1587, the first Filipinos arrived on American soil, starting a relationship between two cultures that would overcome historic challenges together. Eventually, in 1992, The Filipino American Historical Society declared October to be a celebration of Filipino-Americans, which is now widely celebrated in California and Hawaii, and was even recognized by the national congress in 2009.

As you already know, we are currently in the month of October, so, I think it’s only right that we do our part in celebrating Filipino American History Month, right here on The Chosen Dozen!

We will be jumping across the west and east coast of the US to bring you some incredible Fil-Am artists, including Orange County based 8rae, who was recently featured on Paradise Rising’s Semilucent 3 EP and Guapdad 4000, who will be making his way to Manila in December for the highly anticipated Head In The Clouds Festival (which you can buy tickets to here by the way).

Sige na, tune into your favourite radio station at the times above or as always, you can listen to this week's episode and all previous episodes before that, over on our Mixcloud!

This episode is now available for you to listen to, so make sure to visit our official radio stream app of choice, mixcloud.com/beatthisph to get the complete listening pleasure of what we are talking about.
